Four nights that never go near the arch
The beer night. The brewery at Wizard for a beer brewed in the building, Beertique on Second Road for a list, the Beer Hubb roof on Beach Road for the same with a view, and the hall on Soi Diana for the band. Four rooms, one bus, and the last one has the stage.
The sunset night. A roof on Beach Road at six, Kliff on the headland with the bay below it, the Horizon at the Hilton with the dress code, or Moon Whale, and then east on a bus to the band at nine. The roofs are for an hour and the hall is for a night, and the order is fixed by the sun.
The walking night. Tree Town at seven for the food, LK Metro for the reggae singers at Trench Town, and the hall across Soi Diana for the band and the cold. A kilometre, no bus, and the three kinds of night the city does best that are not the strip.
The quiet night. A Monday. The DJ has the stage, the tables along the stage edge are empty at eight, and Save has time to talk about the pour. Regulars who have done a hundred Fridays come on Mondays for this. It is the night the strip cannot offer at any price, because the strip does not have a quiet.
Why the list has the strip removed, and where the bar sits on it
The strip is one street and the city has a hundred, and the point of this page is the other ninety-nine. The ranking above takes every bar within reach of our counter that Google rates, removes the ones with Walking Street in the address, and ranks what is left by rating weighted by review count, with the rule stated so you can argue with it. The result is a list that puts a brewery, a rooftop and a beer bar above every club on the strip, which is what the reviews say when you ask them the right question.
We are on the list where the numbers put us, which is not at the top, and the hall we are in is on it as one entry because that is how Google lists it. We are the last bar on the right in that hall, beside the stage, and every alternative on this page is at its distance from our counter in the entry. The nearest is two minutes. The strip is two kilometres and a bus, and you can see it once and come back.
